My fascination with the sugar industry began at a young age. My father had already worked at the Güstrow sugar factory.  

I laid the foundation for my path into the world of sugar with my studies in process engineering at the Technical University of Dresden.  
I was able to deepen my knowledge as a research associate at the Sugar Institute in Braunschweig. In this role, I supported German sugar factories in optimizing processes, particularly in energy savings.  

After the institute was dissolved, I moved to Zucker-AG Uelzen-Braunschweig, later Nordzucker AG. My new place of work was initially the headquarters in Uelzen, before I transferred to the Nordzucker AG plant in Wierthe, where as Manager of Production and Technology I was responsible for up to 55 employees. Additionally, I was responsible for quality management. After the closure of the Wierthe plant, I moved to the Nordstemmen sugar factory.  

During my time in sugar production plants, I gained deep insight into processes and control systems, as well as into the management of investment projects, which has been very helpful for my further professional career.  

I was able to apply this knowledge in my work for BMA – Braunschweigische Maschinenbauanstalt – where I worked for almost 20 years as a Senior Process Engineer and Senior Manager Engineering.  

Since 2026, I have been working as a freelancer and now look forward to successfully applying my decades of experience in this way.
